Lump Of Coal Rice Krispie Treats

This Lump of Coal Rice Krispie Treats Recipe is fun to make and receive around Christmas! Oreos and food coloring help these treats look just like coal!

Ingredients
  • 3 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 1½ Tablespoons butter
  • 3 - 4 cups rice cereal (use 3 cups for softer "coal")
  • 1½ cups crushed Oreo cookies, loosely packed (best to leave the filling in)
  • 4 - 10 drops black gel food coloring
Directions
  1. In a large microwave-safe mixing bowl, heat your marshmallows and butter for 60-90 seconds.
  2. Stir your marshmallows and mix in your food coloring until you achieve the desired color.
  3. Mix in your rice cereal and crushed Oreo cookies.
  4. Let sit for about 5 minutes until your marshmallows cool down.
  5. Use a tablespoon to scoop out your treats onto a piece of parchment paper.
  6. Cool for 20 - 30 minutes.
  7. Pack your treats a little more tightly by using your hands.

In late 2012 I wrote a post about   2013 trends that I thought would have great staying power.  Several days ago I reread that post, and if I do say so myself I definitely hit the bullseye with my predictions.   There are so many ways you can make your space inviting .  My recommendation today is to  consider wood because it can add both warmth and architectural interest to any space.  Choose a little or a lot, there's something for every space. If you don't  like the warm tones of wood but love the grain and texture, think about white washing or gray washing it.   How about using  wood  in...... Yes, there is an App for Blogger and here I am trying it out.  In the past I've wanted to compose posts on my I Pad when I was travelling and couldn't.  Last week I saw an ad and decided to give it a try.  This is an in process review. So far so good. The interface is simple , but so are the text options.   Can't do much that is fancy with just Bold  and Italics and underline.   Also clumsy when you have to select and apply these options.  Not to mention how I hate one finger pecking to compose! Let's try adding a photo from my camera roll.  You  have some options for photos with screen shots, actual photos taken with I Pad or downloaded  from camera. When you read the reviews they are less than stellar with a long list of complaints.  My take: Can't include video or links, can't add photo captions or photo properties.  Nowhere to add label tags. So much for basic SEO.   So..... Good for a short,  simple post with photos while you are on the fly.  I am wonderin
